Abstract
This research study was designed to identify various factors militating against the effectiveness of teachers in Edo State Public secondary schools. The method adopted for the study was the descriptive survey. Specifically, it was a sample survey; the population of which consists of all the teachers in the eighteen Edo State Local Government Areas owned public secondary schools. The sample of the study comprised 420 teachers randomly drawn from the total of four thousand one hundred and eighty seven (4,187) teachers as at the time of study. From the result of the analysis, the following findings are made; The teaching profession is dominated virtually by female teachers and School facilities are not available and are grossly inadequate where available.
